Our Story
Early Beginnings (1992)
Darpan Hindi Radio Group was founded in 1992 as part of the Multi-Cultural Radio Association (MCRA), alongside more than 30 other community language groups broadcasting on Radio 2000 FM.
A Volunteer-Driven Mission
From day one, the program has been run entirely by volunteers. Every presenter and team member has contributed their time and effort purely out of passion for the Hindi language, culture and community.
Challenges & Revival (1996–1998)
In 1996, MCRA faced internal conflicts and ceased operations temporarily. Under the leadership of Mr. Inoke Fotu Hu'akau and with strong support from the Hindi group, efforts were made to revive the association. By 1998, MCRA was restored, and Darpan Hindi Radio resumed broadcasting.
Growth Over the Years
The program relaunched in 1998 with a Sunday 8–9am time slot. Since 2021, the show has grown to a full two-hour broadcast every Sunday from 9am to 11am.
Where We Are Today
Darpan Hindi Radio continues to thrive as a key community service, strengthened by decades of hard work, teamwork and unwavering volunteer spirit.
